The Scientific Earth Drilling Information System (SEDIS) is designed to facilitate access to data and information related to scientific ocean drilling, regardless of origin or location of data. SEDIS integrates distributed scientific drilling data via metadata.
The three main data contributors to SEDIS currently are the IODP implementing organizations (IOs) from the United States (USIO), Japan (CDEX) and Europe with Canada (ESO). SEDIS allows the public to search the IO databases by harvesting distributed metadata. SEDIS will be expanded in future stages to include a publication search engine, advanced data search, visualization and mapping tools, and other scientific drilling data. ..........................................................................................................................................
