Thematic Review Committees |

IODP-MI chairs thematic review committees with members from the scientific community (nominated by SASEC). The reviews evaluate progress achieved in relation to major scientific themes and goals stated in the Initial Science Plan. Reviews are based on a number of expeditions that address a common theme, and normally emerge 1-2 years after the expeditions have been completed. Reviews also provide brief comments on planned activities in order to assess how certain themes and program goals eventually might be achieved.
Committee Membership
Thematic Review Committee (TRC) is nominated by SASEC and consists of two to four experts external to IODP, one member each from SASEC and SPC as liaisons, one representative from IODP-MI, and one former member of SAS who was involved in the nurturing of the expeditions under review. The committee is chaired by IODP-MI Vice President for Science Planning and deliverable.
