Next Proposal Submission Deadline : 1 October 2015, 23:59 GMT

  • The Call for Scientific Ocean Drilling Proposals for the October 1, 2015 submission deadline will be published in early August.
  • Proponents are strongly encouraged to contact the Implementing Organizations to discuss platform-specific operational and fiscal constraints before developing proposals.
  • Chikyu Drilling Equipment and Ship Maintenance: In view of the coming dry dock and overhaul of the blowout preventer, riser drilling will be restricted in 2014 and unlikely in 2015. Riser drilling is scheduled to resume in 2016 and 2017 at site C0002 of NanTroSEIZE. Proponents proposing to use Chikyu should be aware that their operations may be delayed by these issues.

The Proposal Database System (PDB) is the web-based interface for completing and submitting IODP proposals. The current version of PDB provides guidance through help buttons. For more details, please see the Proposal Submission Guidelines.

Next Data Submission deadline: 1 November 2015, 23:59 GMT

Site characterization data (such as seismic profiles) supporting the IODP proposals are submitted via the Site Survey Data Bank (SSDB).  Such data are an integral part of your proposal and are critical for a successful review outcome. After submitting a proposal, you will be contacted when your proposal and sites have been loaded into SSDB.  You will then have until the data deadline to complete your data submissions.  Because of an accelerated panel review schedule, proposals with any data files uploaded after the deadline will be reviewed only at the discretion of the SSO.
