IODP is currently accepting applications to serve as an Outreach Officer for Expedition 405 (Tracking Tsunamigenic Slip Across the Japan Trench). Enthusiastic artists, videographers, teachers, media specialists, journalists, researchers, etc. with skills in storytelling, infographics, animation, photography, video production, podcasting, and other media are encouraged to apply. A background in Earth science would be beneficial but is not required. The successful applicants will work and learn alongside a team of international scientists and technicians for 1–2 weeks during the expedition. Outreach Officers will need to be creative, flexible, friendly, and collaborative. The Outreach Officers will operate under the Expedition Co-Chief Scientists, Expedition Project Managers, and MarE3. The application deadline is June 15, 2024

Applications to sail on IODP expeditions are submitted through the applicant's Program Member Office (PMO). Application requirements may vary by PMO, and they may have different deadlines than those posted above. An individual's PMO is determined by the location of their employer or primary academic affiliation, not by citizenship or adjunct status.
